Srinagar- Observing that sympathy alone cannot be a ground for issuance of directions by a constitutional court when such directions may potentially endanger the life of the person concerned, the High Court of J&K and Ladakh on Thursday declined permission for medical termination of pregnancy (MTP) of a minor rape survivor at an advanced gestational stage of nearly 27 weeks, holding that the procedure posed a serious threat to her life and future reproductive health.
