Srinagar- The High Court of J&K and Ladakh has granted bail to a Budgam-based doctor accused in an attempted rape case registered at Police Station Khansahib earlier this year.

A bench of Justice Mohd Yousuf Wani, while allowing the bail plea of Dr. AM Bhat, observed that there was no compelling need for continued custody as the investigation had been completed and the chargesheet had already been filed before the trial court.

The accused doctor was arrested on January 14, 2026, in connection with FIR No. 10/2026 under Sections 62 and 64 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), relating to attempt to commit rape.
