India, Oct. 7 -- The Jammu and Kashmir Government has postponed the provincial holiday on account of the Urs of Sheikh-ul-Aalam Sheykh Noor-Ud-Din Noorani by a day, with the holiday now scheduled to be observed on October 9 instead of October 8.

The General Administration Department (GAD), in Government Order No. 1614-JK(GAD) of 2026 dated October 7, said the holiday would be observed on Friday, October 9, in Kashmir Province only.

The order partially modifies Government Order No. 1894-JK(GAD) of 2025 dated December 12, 2025, under which the holiday had been scheduled for Thursday, October 8.

The order was issued by the GAD by order of the Lieutenant Governor and signed by M. Raju, IAS, Commissioner/Secretary to the Government.
