Srinagar, April 29 -- Srinagar- The Jammu and Kashmir government has approved an 18 per cent hike in fares for various categories of commercial passenger vehicles across the Union Territory, according to an official notification.
The notification, issued by the Transport Department from the Civil Secretariat, directs the Transport Commissioner to fix the revised maximum chargeable fares for different types of vehicles under provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.
The fare revision applies to big buses (stage carriages), medium and mini buses, taxis and maxi cabs, including contract carriage vehicles such as Sumo, Bolero, Tavera, Scorpio and Innova, among others, officials said.
