Srinagar, Sept. 23 -- Srinagar- The Jammu and Kashmir Government is implementing a multi-pronged strategy to address the growing stray dog population across the Union Territory, with a focus on sterilisation, anti-rabies vaccination, improved waste management and regulated feeding points.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, responding to a question in the Legislative Assembly, said the government was strengthening Animal Birth Control (ABC) and Anti-Rabies Vaccination (ARV) programmes to systematically sterilise and vaccinate stray dogs.

He said existing ABC facilities were being expanded, while new centres and dedicated veterinary staff were being deployed across Urban Local Bodies.
