J&K Earns More Than Bihar, But Most Workers Don't Feel It
Srinagar, July 1 -- Jammu and Kashmir's per capita income has climbed to about Rs.1,68,248 for 2025-26, more than double Bihar's Rs.69,321, according to the latest estimates from the J&K Economic Survey, the Bihar Economic Survey and the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation.
On its face, the figure signals an economy pulling ahead, but a deeper reading of the numbers tells a tighter, more cautionary tale.
J&K's income level still falls short of India's national per capita income of about Rs.2,19,575, placing the Union Territory at roughly 76.6 percent of the national average.
The comparison with Bihar also shows differences in scale.
