Srinagar, July 21 -- Srinagar- Jammu and Kashmir recorded a decline in registered cyber crime cases in 2024 after four consecutive years of increase, even as cyber offences across the country crossed the one-lakh mark for the first time, according to data tabled in the Lok Sabha by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).

According to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) figures, Jammu and Kashmir registered 114 cyber crime cases in 2024, down from 185 cases in 2023, while neighbouring Ladakh reported one case during the year.

The data, tabled in response to an unstarred question in Parliament, showed that cyber crime cases in J&K had risen steadily over the previous four years-from 120 in 2020 to 154 in 2021, 173 in 2022 and 185 in 2023...
