Srinagar, Aug. 29 -- Srinagar- Jammu and Kashmir has the potential to create "an entire era of champions" if its young athletes are provided sustained support, scientific training and opportunities at the grassroots level, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said on Friday, calling for the Union Territory to move beyond participation and eventually host international sporting events.

Sinha made the remarks while addressing National Sports Day celebrations at the Shalimar Campus of SKUAST Kashmir, where he paid tribute to hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand and underlined the role of sports in building discipline, resilience, unity and a spirit of nation-building among youth.
