Jammu-Srinagar Highway Shut After Rain Triggers Slush
Srinagar, Aug. 3 -- Srinagar-Traffic on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway was suspended from both sides near Dawal Bridge in Udhampur district on Monday evening after heavy rainfall caused slush and made the road unsafe for vehicular movement, officials said.
The highway has been reduced to a single carriageway at the Dawal slide point in Samroli area, where the road surface turned muddy and slippery following the rain, they said.
Teams from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), along with machinery and Traffic Police personnel, have been deployed at the site to clear the stretch and restore traffic, officials said.
