India-UK Free Trade Deal Comes Into Force
Srinagar, July 15 -- Srinagar- India and the United Kingdom on Wednesday operationalised their landmark Free Trade Agreement (FTA), opening duty-free access for nearly 99 per cent of Indian exports to the UK and reducing tariffs on a wide range of British goods, including whisky and premium cars.
Officially known as the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA), the pact is being described as one of the most significant trade agreements signed by the two countries. It is expected to boost bilateral trade, expand investment and strengthen economic ties at a time of growing uncertainty in the global trading system.
