Srinagar, July 9 -- Srinagar- A 56-year-old headmaster died in a road accident in Handwara area of North Kashmir's Kupwara district last night, officials said.

They said that the accident took place in Younsu Handwara in which a pedestrian, identified as Fayaz Ahmad Lone, a resident of Wahipora was hit by a vehicle, reported news agency GNS.

The 56-year-old, who was working as a headmaster, sustained critical injuries in the incident and died on the spot, the officials added.

Police have taken cognizance of the incident. Further details are awaited.
