Srinagar, April 24 -- Srinagar- The High Court of J&K and Ladakh on Friday strongly deprecated the government's repeated failure to file replies in court cases and directed the personal appearance of the Law Secretary to explain lapses and outline corrective measures.
A bench of Justice Wasim Sadiq Nargal urged the government to devise a time-bound system ensuring prompt transmission of records to counsel, timely drafting and filing of replies, monitoring of pending cases, and fixation of responsibility on erring officers.
"Such a mechanism would not only facilitate effective representation of the Government before the Courts, but also obviate the necessity of passing coercive orders and safeguard public interest," the court observed.
