Srinagar, Aug. 27 -- Srinagar- Ghazanfar Ali, former bureaucrat-turned-politician who served as Commissioner of the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC), passed away on Thursday night at SMHS Hospital, Srinagar, after a prolonged illness.

According to family sources, Ali suffered a major heart attack on May 18, 2026, following which he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of SMHS Hospital. He remained under treatment for some time and was later discharged after his condition improved.

However, his health deteriorated again on Thursday. Despite medical intervention, he breathed his last at around 10 pm at the hospital.

His death has left his family, relatives, friends and well-wishers in deep shock and grief. Condolences poured...
