Srinagar, May 6 -- Srinagar- A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel died after falling unconscious in South Kashmir's Shopian district during the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday, officials said.

The deceased has been identified as Head Constable Surindher Singh of 178 Battalion CRPF. He was a resident of the Shalibanda area of Hyderabad, reported news agency KNT.

Officials said the CRPF personnel was posted at Police Post Wachi in the Zainapora area of Shopian district.

The deceased reportedly fell unconscious while on duty, following which he was immediately evacuated to Community Health Center (CHC) Zainapora for medical treatment.

However, doctors at the hospital declared him brought dead, officials said.
