Cloudbursts Block Roads, Cut Off Villages in Chenab Valley
Srinagar, July 2 -- Srinagar- The aftermath of heavy rainfall and cloudbursts continued to disrupt normal life across the Chenab region on Thursday, with fresh landslides forcing the closure of the strategic Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag road and flash floods leaving several villages in Doda's Bhalesa region cut off from the rest of the district.
Officials said continuous rain loosened hill slopes at multiple locations along the Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag road, triggering landslides that blocked the highway and rendered it unsafe for vehicular movement. Traffic on the route, which connects the Chenab Valley with south Kashmir, was suspended until the debris is cleared and the road is declared fit for travel.
