Srinagar, Aug. 31 -- Srinagar- A retired Army soldier was killed after his throat was slit by a banned Chinese kite string while he was travelling on a two-wheeler through the Bishnah area of Jammu Ring Road, officials said.

The deceased was identified as Naib Subedar (Retd) Lakhvinder Singh, who sustained critical injuries after coming into contact with the kite string late Sunday.

Singh was returning to his home in R S Pura after completing his work at an industrial unit in Bari Brahmana, where he was employed as a private security guard.

He was rushed to a hospital following the incident but succumbed to his injuries.
