Centre Bets Big On J&K's Limestone Reserves
Srinagar, May 12 -- Srinagar- Banking on Jammu and Kashmir's vast limestone reserves to drive industrial expansion and mining-led growth, the Union Government on Tuesday launched the second tranche of e-auction of 12 limestone blocks across the Union Territory.
Officials said the move is aimed at unlocking mineral potential through a transparent auction process while attracting investment from cement and infrastructure sectors.
Speaking during the inaugural session of the auction launch in Srinagar, Secretary, Ministry of Mines, Government of India, Piyush Goyal said several of the identified blocks are resource-rich and expected to witness strong participation from industry players.
