Srinagar, June 22 -- Srinagar- The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a formal FIR against an Executive Engineer of the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC), who was also holding additional charge as In-Charge Superintending Engineer, and a peon in connection with an alleged bribery case involving the processing of a contractor's bill and signing of an official agreement.

While the peon was arrested during a trap operation conducted by the CBI, the Executive Engineer is absconding and is reportedly evading arrest.
