Srinagar, July 10 -- Srinagar- A boy drowned in the Vishow Nallah in the Hassanpora Bagh area of Kulgam district of South Kashmir on Friday, officials said.

An official said that the boy accidentally slipped into the stream and drowned. Locals retrieved him from the water and rushed him to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Bijbehara.

He said doctors declared him brought dead at the hospital. The deceased has been identified as Hazim Showkat, son of Showkat Ahmad Ganie and a resident of Hassanpora Bagh, Kulgam, reported news agency KNO.

Meanwhile, police have taken cognisance of the incident.
