Anantnag Set the Pace in Kashmir's Drug Fight. What's Next?

Six months into 2026, Anantnag Police opened 345 cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and arrested 372 people accused of moving contraband through the district.
Officers seized more than 440 kilograms of drugs and recovered over Rs.27.5 lakh in cash linked to narcotics dealing.
Assets worth close to Rs.50 crore were attached under the law. Twenty illegally held properties worth Rs.20 crore were demolished, 2,000 kilograms of seized drugs were destroyed, and 260 marlas of illegal cultivation were cleared from the ground.
These are not modest numbers for one district in half a year, and they say something real about intent.
