Srinagar, June 12 -- Srinagar- Authorities have intensified preparations for the annual Amarnath Yatra in south Kashmir's Anantnag district, deploying advanced surveillance systems, specialised security units and a multi-layered security grid to ensure the safe and smooth conduct of the pilgrimage beginning on July 3.

With more than 400 CCTV cameras, an expanded facial recognition system, elevated watchtowers and extensive deployment of security personnel along the route, officials said elaborate arrangements have been put in place ahead of the 38-day pilgrimage.

The annual Amarnath Yatra, one of Jammu and Kashmir's largest religious pilgrimages,p thousands of devotees from across the country every year.
