Srinagar, May 2 -- Srinagar - Donald Trump has sparked fresh controversy after joking that the United States could "take over" Cuba almost immediately - using a returning aircraft carrier from the Middle East as a show of force.

Speaking at an event in Florida, Trump quipped that a US warship-possibly the USS Abraham Lincoln-could simply pull up close to Cuba's coast and force its leaders to surrender.

"We'll stop about 100 yards offshore, and they'll say, 'Thank you very much; we give up,'" he said, drawing attention with his off-the-cuff remarks.

The comment came as Trump spoke about wider US military moves following the US-Israeli war on Iran, suggesting Cuba could be "next" after Iran.
