Srinagar, Sept. 21 -- A signature campaign for a museum at Burzahom has sparked a welcome response on Kashmir's social media.

Many people have greeted the proposal as a long-awaited step toward giving one of the valley's oldest archaeological sites a permanent public home.

The campaign calls for a museum near the site, where artefacts, excavation records and the story of Burzahom can come together for residents, students, researchers and visitors.

Burzahom sits within a Srinagar that has expanded rapidly around its ancient settlements. Houses, roads and other construction now surround a landscape that preserves traces of human life dating back thousands of years.
