Pulwama, April 28 -- Acting on specific inputs about illegal handling of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), Pulwama Police on Tuesday unearthed an unlawful decanting operation in the Kakapora area, officials said.

According to police, a distributor was allegedly transferring LPG from domestic cylinders to commercial ones to earn undue profit, in clear violation of established safety norms and regulations.In this connection, FIR No. 34/26 has been registered at Police Station Kakapora against one Firdous Ahmad Dar, son of Ab Ahad Dar, a resident of Hajibal. During the raid, police recovered a total of 80 cylinders, including 35 domestic and 45 commercial cylinders, which were reportedly being used in the illegal operation.
