Srinagar, Aug. 1 -- Srinagar- A seven-year-old boy was killed after being struck by a boulder that rolled down a hillside during a mudslide near his school in Mawer area of north Kashmir's Handwara on Saturday, officials said.

The incident occurred during the lunch break when the boulder rolled down from an adjacent hillside amid the mudslide and hit the child outside the school premises, they said.

The boy was immediately shifted to Primary Health Centre (PHC) Qalamabad, where doctors declared him brought dead, officials said.

The deceased was identified as Rehan Ahmad, son of Reyaz Ahmad Dar and a resident of Khudi in Mawer. He was a nursery student.
