Srinagar, Sept. 2 -- Srinagar- A 45-year-old woman was injured after being attacked by a bear in Tarkasi village of the Peeri area in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday.

An official said that the woman was attacked by the wild animal in Tarkasi village, leaving her injured, reported news agency KNO.

He said she was immediately referred to Government Medical College (GMC), Rajouri, for further treatment. The woman was later identified as Nazira Begum (45), a resident of Tarkasi village.

Meanwhile, an investigation has been launched, while residents urged the Forest Department to take necessary measures to prevent such incidents.
