Srinagar, July 20 -- Jammu- Jammu division remained the worst-affected by the ongoing spell of torrential rain on Monday as at least 11 more people, including a mother and her two young children, lost their lives in fresh rain-related incidents across the Jammu region, taking the death toll to 23 over the past two days.

Seven people remained missing as incessant rain, flash floods and landslides continued to batter Poonch and Rajouri districts, hampering rescue operations and leaving a trail of destruction across the region.

The India Meteorological Department has forecast moderate to heavy rainfall across Jammu and Kashmir till July 23, prompting authorities to maintain a high alert.
