Srinagar, June 12 -- Banihal- Two persons lost their lives after a car skidded off the road and plunged into a deep stream near Levra forests in Banihal on Friday evening.

Rescue teams, police personnel, and volunteers launched an operation to retrieve the occupants from the badly damaged vehicle, but both victims succumbed to their injuries.

An official said that soon after the incident, rescue teams along with police personnel and volunteers, reached the spot and launched a rescue operation, news agency KNO reported.

He said the vehicle had suffered severe damage in the accident, and rescuers faced considerable difficulty in retrieving the occupants who were trapped inside the mangled car.
