Srinagar, Sept. 26 -- Srinagar- Jammu and Kashmir has bio-remediated 13.29 lakh metric tonnes of legacy waste as part of its ongoing urban sanitation drive under the Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban 2.0 (SBM-U 2.0), officials said.

The progress was reviewed at a meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo to assess the implementation of SBM-U 2.0 and AMRUT 2.0 across the Union Territory.

According to the figures presented at the meeting, J&K had set a target of 26.29 lakh metric tonnes of legacy waste for bio-remediation, of which 13.29 lakh MT has been cleared so far.

The Jammu Municipal Corporation is scheduled to clear its remaining 0.80 lakh MT by October 2026, while complete remediation in Kashmir Division has been targeted for Dece...
