Srinagar, Sept. 6 -- Consumer commission backlog exposes agonising wait for victims of 2014 deluge
Srinagar - Twelve years after the catastrophic floods devastated Kashmir in September of 2014, 554 consumer cases linked to the disaster are still pending before the J&K State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, laying bare the extraordinary delay in delivering justice to victims.
The startling figure has emerged in an RTI reply issued by the Commission, which shows that the flood cases remain part of a much larger backlog of 1,356 pending cases taken up after the Commission was reconstituted under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.
