Thousands Commemorate 8th Muharram in Srinagar
Srinagar, June 24 -- Thousands of mourners participated in the traditional 8th Muharram procession in Srinagar on Wednesday, as a sea of people filled the streets from Guru Bazar to Dalgate in solemn remembrance of the martyrs of Karbala.
The procession commenced from Guru Bazar in the early morning hours and moved along the traditional route through Budshah Kadal, Jehangir Chowk and M.A. Road before culminating at Dalgate.
Black flags and banners were seen adorning several locations along the route, particularly around Jehangir Chowk, reflecting the spirit of mourning associated with Muharram observances.
