India, April 1 -- Kashmir-based artist Ravice Rashid, popularly known as Rayees Wathori, has been awarded the prestigious Art for Hope Grant 2026 under the CSR initiative of Hyundai India. He is among 40 selected artists from across the country, each receiving Rs 1 lakh, and is the sole representative from Jammu & Kashmir.
The grant recognises Wathori's efforts to revive and reinterpret Shikargah through the traditional Bhand Pather performance art. As part of the project, he trained 10-15 young artists, contributing to the preservation and promotion of the indigenous theatrical form.
