Srinagar, June 24 -- Jammu and Kashmir Police have put in place elaborate security and traffic arrangements for the eighth Muharram procession in Srinagar to ensure its peaceful conduct and minimise inconvenience to the public, Inspector General of Police (Kashmir) V K Birdi said on Wednesday.

Speaking to reporters, Birdi said the procession, organised by the Yadgari Hussaini Committee, will proceed from Guru Bazar to Dalgate and all necessary arrangements have been made for the mourners participating in it.

"The police have made detailed security and traffic arrangements so that the volunteers taking part in the procession do not face any difficulties and normal traffic movement is affected as little as possible," he said.
