BUDGAM, May 5 -- Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday announced a village-level 'Parents Brigade' to combat drug abuse, asserting that the entire administration is committed to eradicating the narcotics menace from the region.

Addressing residents after a 'padyatra' in central Kashmir's Budgam district, LG Sinha said he appealed to every family, social organisation, and spiritual and political leaders to intensify the anti-drug campaign.

"Every arm of administration and its full strength is committed to eradicating drugs," the Lt Governor said.

He also announced the formation of an informal 'Parents Brigade' in every village and city ward, wherever possible.
