Nigeria, April 30 -- The popular Moro bridge linking part of Kwara State and Oyo State has collapsed.

The bridge reportedly caved in on Thursday, disrupting the flow of vehicular and pedestrian movement.

The bridge is considered as a critical infrastructure which is key to economic activities, especially transporting of goods and services between Kwara and Oyo States.

Kwara State government through the Ministry of Works confirmed the incident on Thursday saying the bridge "collapsed overnight under the weight of a heavy-duty truck"

In the statement signed by Olajide Moyo Abolarin, Press Secretary of the Ministry of works, the government directed traffic diversion and said it has deployed traffic managers to the area.
