Nigeria, June 18 -- The Kwara State Police Command has dismissed as false a reported bandit invasion in Oke-Oyi earlier this morning, warning that those responsible for spreading fake security alerts will be prosecuted.

The Command said panic broke out around Government Girls Secondary School, Oke-Oyi, at about 9:15 a.m. following claims that suspected bandits had entered the area.

The Divisional Police Officer in charge of Oke-Oyi promptly deployed officers to the scene to assess the situation and secure the school and the surrounding community.
