Nigeria, June 7 -- His Royal Highness, Oba Muhammad Akande Olarewaju Odunade, the Onilupeju of Ilupeju in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, has died.

The monarch reportedly joined his ancestors on Saturday, bringing to an end a reign remembered for its commitment to peace, unity and community development.

The death of the traditional ruler was announced in a statement issued on behalf of the Chairman of Ifelodun Local Government, Abdulrasheed Femi Yusuf.

The statement described the late monarch as a respected royal father whose leadership, wisdom and dedication contributed significantly to the growth and progress of Ilupeju community.
