Nigeria, Oct. 5 -- A military aircraft with tail number NGR 931, en route from Benin to Lagos, has crashed near the Naval Base in Igbokoda, Ondo State.

The incident occurred on Monday after Air Traffic Controllers reported losing contact with the aircraft at about 9:13 a.m.

According to the information released by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, efforts to establish radio contact with the aircraft after it disappeared proved unsuccessful.

The minister said subsequent information confirmed that the aircraft had crashed close to the Naval Base in Igbokoda, with the wreckage located and search and rescue operations ongoing.
