Emir of Ilorin appoints Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Dasuki as new Chief Imam
Nigeria, June 10 -- The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, has appointed Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Dasuki Imam Fulani as the Chief Imam Fulani of Ilorin Emirate.
The appointment was announced in a statement signed by the Emir's Personal Assistant, Dr Abdulraheem Muritala, on Wednesday.
According to the statement, Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Dasuki emerged successful after a selection process involving a number of Islamic scholars who contested for the revered religious position.
The new Chief Imam Fulani, aged 42, is a grandson of the eighth Chief Imam Fulani of Ilorin, Sheikh Ibrahim Dasuki Imam Fulani Agaka, and the son of the 10th Chief Imam Fulani, Sheikh Maliki bn Dasuki Agaka.
