Nigeria, June 26 -- The Association of Lawyers with Disabilities in Nigeria (ALDIN) has condemned the alleged discriminatory treatment of one of its members, Barrister Catherine Ede, a Deaf lawyer and disability rights advocate, at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu.

In a statement signed by its President, Tosan Rukevwe Mene, and General Secretary, Samuel Chukwudi Ihezue, the association said the incident occurred on June 21, 2026.

According to ALDIN, Ede was allegedly questioned about her disability, denied reasonable accommodation, prevented from boarding her scheduled flight, and subjected to treatment that undermined her dignity.
