Nigeria, June 15 -- The Kwara State APC Elders Caucus has broken its silence over the purported emergence of Speaker Salihu Yakubu Danladi as governorship candidate, saying the future of the party is at stake.

Speaking at a press conference in Ilorin on Monday, the elders said they could no longer remain quiet while developments they consider harmful to the party continue unchecked.

The caucus described itself as the conscience of the APC in Kwara State, noting that its members had spent years defending and building the party.

"There comes a time when silence is no longer golden," the group declared.
