Dhaka, March 19 -- A youth was killed in a lightning strike while visiting his boat in Muchapur area of Companiganj upazila of the district early hours of on Thursday.

The deceased was Thakur Chand, 25, son of Jonardan of the area.

Quoting locals, police said the incident occurred around 1:20 am while Thakur and his father were going to see their boat in the river.

Suddenly, the sky became overcast and a thunderbolt struck them, leaving Thakur killed on the spot, reports BSS.

Companyganj Upazila Health Complex Medical Officer Dr Abdul Karim confirmed the matter.
