Dhaka, May 5 -- A senior United States trade official is due here today for talks aimed at strengthening bilateral trade and investment ties, amid growing economic engagement between the two countries.
Brendan Lynch, assistant US trade representative for South and Central Asia, will lead a delegation to Dhaka on May 5-7 to discuss ways of expanding cooperation, according to an announcement by the US mission.
In a statement Monday, spokesperson Poornima Rai said Washington was looking to advance implementation of the proposed US-Bangladesh Agreement on Reciprocal Trade, which is expected "to enhance economic growth by improving market access, reducing barriers to investment and boosting commercial opportunities".
