Dhaka, May 22 -- Two teenage cousins have been drowned while taking bath in a pond in Pirganj Upazila of the district.

Their bodies were recovered on Thursday night from a pond in Kathalpara village under Chatra Union of the upazila, reports BSS.

The deceased were identified as Tamim, 13, son of Nurul Mia, and Sadman, 14, son of Suruj Mia, both residents of Kathalpara village.

According to local sources, four friends went together in the afternoon to take bath in a pond beside their house.

As Tamim and Sadman did not know how to swim, they eventually sank into deep water.

Two other friends who were with them started screaming for help, prompting local people to rush to the scene.
