Bangladesh, Aug. 18 -- The Minimum Wage Board has proposed a minimum monthly wage of Tk 11,900 for entry-level workers in Bangladesh's leather goods and footwear factories.

Advertisement The Ministry of Labour and Employment issued a gazette notification on August 14, inviting recommendations and objections, if any, from the public and industry stakeholders within 14 days of the gazette's publication.

Under the proposed wage structure, an entry-level worker at Grade Six will receive Tk 11,900 a month, comprising Tk 6,000 in basic pay, house rent equivalent to 50% of the basic salary, Tk 1,000 as medical allowance, Tk 600 as transport allowance and Tk 1,300 as food allowance.
