Bangladesh, Sept. 19 -- A new well at the Titas gas field - Titas-28 - has started supplying 12.5 million cubic feet of gas per day (mmcfd) to the national grid, offering a modest boost to domestic production amid persistent supply shortages.

Advertisement State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Aninda Islam Amit inaugurated the gas flow, as the guest, noting that the additional supply would help ease pressure on the country's energy system.

Bangladesh Gas Fields Company Limited (BGFCL), the state-run operator of Titas, drilled the well at a cost of around Tk 2.0 billion. Work began on December 15 last year and was completed on June 19.
