Dhaka, March 20 -- Three cement-laden trawlers capsized in the Padma River after being caught in a sudden storm in Naria upazila of Shariatpur on Friday.
The incident occurred in the Banshtala area when the vessels, carrying at least 6,000 bags of cement, were on their way to different destinations, according to the trawler operators.
Police and local sources said the three trawlers had left Dhaka loaded with cement, heading towards Jhalakathi, Indurkani, and Gournadi. As they reached the Naria stretch of the Padma around noon, they were hit by adverse weather and strong winds.
