Bangladesh, July 15 -- The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) on Wednesday said it registered 30,199 suspicious transaction reports (STRs) in fiscal year 2024-25, up 74 per cent from the previous fiscal year.

BFIU Head Iqtiaruddin Md Mamun disclosed the information at a function held at the Bangladesh Bank headquarters on Wednesday.

Officials said the sharp rise in suspicious transaction reports is believed to be linked to the political changeover in August 2024, as many of the identified transactions were associated with political leaders.
