Bangladesh, Oct. 7 -- Stocks ended higher on Wednesday, snapping a four-day losing streak, as bargain hunters returned to the market to pick up recently beaten-down shares at relatively attractive prices.

The upbeat trend sustained throughout the session amid broad-based buying interest, with investors showing renewed interest in stocks that had undergone sharp corrections in recent sessions.

The prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), DSEX, gained nearly 39 points, or 0.72 per cent, to close at 5,464, recovering part of the 125-point loss recorded over the previous four sessions.

The blue-chip DS30 index advanced 19 points to 2,096, while the DSES index, which tracks Shariah-compliant stocks, rose 11 points to 1,086.
