Bangladesh, Sept. 24 -- Dhaka stocks extended their recovery in early trading on Thursday as investors picked up recently beaten-down shares at relatively attractive prices, despite concerns over the latest fuel price hike.

Advertisement The buying interest pushed the broad-based DSEX higher by 21 points, or 0.38 per cent, to 5,618 by 11:00 am, although trading remained cautious.

The market gained despite the government's latest increase in fuel prices. Meanwhile, declining global oil prices offered some relief by potentially limiting the pressure from higher domestic fuel costs.

The blue-chip DS30 index advanced 2 points to 2,124, while the DSES index, which tracks Shariah-compliant stocks, gained 2 points to 1,122.
